A woman on Reddit is sharing a complicated saga involving her manipulative sister-in-law, sharing that the situation has spiraled into “a full blown soap opera” after the sister-in-law impersonated her to her own wedding caterer.
In aRedditpost, the anonymous woman writes that she and her fiancé are set to be married in three months and have “chosen a catered menu that we love, with a mix of options including steak, salmon, and a vegetarian dish.”
Her future sister-in-law, “Maggie,” has recently gone vegan and informed the bride that her wedding menu wouldn’t work for her.
“She demanded that I work with the caterer to add a fully vegan entrée just for her. She has asked me to change the cake flavor to a vegan one so that she can eat too. But obviously I shut her down before she could even explore this idea further,” she wrote.
After informing the sister-in-law that she’d “already finalized the menu and signed the contract,” the situation further devolved.
“She didn’t take it well and accused me of being inconsiderate,” she wrote. “Now my future MIL is involved, saying Maggie feels ‘excluded’ and I should just add one vegan meal because ‘it’s not that hard to accommodate her.’ But here’s the thing — adding a vegan entrée requires renegotiating the contract and paying extra fees, which I’m not willing to do this close to the wedding.”
In afollow-uppost, the woman wrote that she recently learned Maggie contacted her wedding caterer directly.
“2 hours ago, I got a call from the caterer. Apparently, Maggie had contacted them pretending to be calling on my behalf and asked for a ‘menu revision.’ She had requested for them to add 5 new fully vegan dishes????”
Not only did Maggie make the request, but she confirmed that adding another $1,500 to the food budget would be fine.
When the poster confronted Maggie, she did not offer an apology but instead said, “I was just trying to fix your mistake. If you’re not going to take initiative to provide for your guests at least let me do it for you.”
While the woman says she is standing her ground, she adds that none of her future in-laws are happy and that “the family group chat is aWAR ZONEright now.”
“The whole extended family is just contributing with their useless opinions asking me to ‘suck it up’ and ‘just pay the extra 1.5k.’ "

Commenters on Reddit are firmly on the original poster’s side, with one suggesting she give Maggie a vegan meal and follow it up with a $1,500 bill.
“Give her the plate and the $1500 bill for her ‘accommodation.’ I guarantee she will not be vegan the day after the wedding,” one person wrote.
Added another: “If Maggie wants vegan options, she can bring her own food or eat before she comes.”
