One couple’shoneymoonphase might be over before it has even started.

A bride-to-be documented on Reddit’s“Am I the A——” forumwhy she is “so angry” after her fiancé’s parents decided to plan a vacation at the same resort their honeymoon will be after theirweddingin April.

“I’ve been looking forward to it just being the two of us,” the woman wrote in her post, adding that she and her partner chose “a more offbeat destination that I felt would truly be a great place for us to start our life as a married couple.”

A few days ago, however, the woman’s future husband revealed to her that his parents also booked a trip to this destination — with the majority of their vacation dates overlapping with the honeymoon trip.

“I was livid,” the woman confessed. “They can go any other time, why now? He said he had suggested that but his mom said they had taken time off for the wedding too, and it worked well into their plans.”

She then admitted she got “so angry” that she “was almost in tears.”

“He tried to reassure me saying they had promised it’ll be two separate things and they won’t be inserting themselves in our honeymoon, they want us to enjoy it, and they’d be doing their own thing,” the woman explained.

“I want to believe it but I know his mom. I like her as a soon-to-be MIL [mother-in-law] but she can be very clingy and routinely laments how far he (and now us) are from them so I just have a feeling the two plans are not going to be as independent as he thinks they’ll be,” she added.

The woman then wrote that she turned to her parents for their opinions. “My mom agreed with me that this isn’t right, and my dad is more on the fence about it because he doesn’t think everything is ruined,” she said.

To remedy the situation, the bride-to-be “demanded” that her fiancé make his parents change their plans to not crash their honeymoon.

“He says he asked them to, they promised to do their own thing, what can he do tell them he doesn’t believe them and call them liars?” she recalled. “I messed up here and said if that’s what it takes. He got quiet. I realized that was too much and sincerely apologized … This has been eating me up. I was envisioning a certain type of honeymoon and this happened.”

Seeking outside validation about her actions, the woman asked Redditors if she was in the wrong “for demanding that my fiancé’s parents change their plans to have a vacation at the same place as our honeymoon?”

Another Redditor, meanwhile, reassured the woman that she was “not overreacting.”

“If you think this will change post wedding, think again,” they wrote. “This is your future. When people show you who they are, believe them.”
