A bride got a “shoulder meat” guest book in a shocking mixup.
In less than two weeks, Tara Henderson is getting married to Kevin Porter. She was excited to find that her custom wedding guest book had arrived on time on Monday, Dec. 2. But her excitement turned into a combination of shock and confusion when she opened her package that afternoon and saw a book titled “SHOULDER MEAT” in all-caps.
“When I opened it, to my surprise, I got the wrong order. But nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to open,” Henderson said in aTikTokvideo of the guest book reveal.
“When I saw the black cover I thought I forgot to update the cover on the website when creating it and thought to myself, ‘It’s okay we will just keep the book open, no one will see the cover,’ " Henderson exclusively tells PEOPLE. “Then when I saw ‘shoulder meat’ I thought it was a butcher book of some sort since my fiancé is a rancher. Then I got into the book and I was just so confused what it was.”
The book consists of 13 photographs of strangers with meat placed on top of their shoulders. The bride-to-be says that it looks like different types of red meat was used, such as prosciutto, salami and steak. There were no captions underneath any of the photos, nor any other identifying information inside.

“I do not know these people, so if you were supposed to get this and instead you got my wedding guest book, I’m sorry,” Henderson continued on TikTok. “I did contact the place I ordered from and they will be sending me my correct book, but I’m sorry if you were expecting to get your shoulder meat book and you got my wedding guest book.”

Commenters on TikTok found the now-viral situation hilarious.
“This would immediately be my most prized possession,” the top comment with more than 27,000 likes reads, with the second top comment reading, “Desperately need that person to see this and tell their story.”
“This is the ULTIMATE coffee table book/party story oh my gosh,” someone commented, with another person writing, “This is actually the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, I would be THRILLED to receive this in the mail.”
Other commenters suggested that the bride should still use the wrong book as her wedding guest book because “it’ll be a hit” and make for a funny conversational piece.

“We are going to incorporate it in the wedding somehow!” Henderson reveals to PEOPLE. “And definitely keeping it.”
The actual owners of the “shoulder meat” guest book have yet to come forward.
Henderson and Porter, who met in 2020 and got engaged in December 2023, will tie the knot on Dec. 14 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Porter popped the question at a local steakhouse so it’ll be a full circle moment to have a red meat nod at their wedding.
“We are so excited to start our next chapter together!” Henderson says.
