A bride-to-be went all out thrifting “basically everything” for her nuptials!
Oregon-based brideTarryn Pitthas gone viral on TikTok for her sustainable efforts to thrift all of her wedding décor. Although she doesn’t tie the knot with fiancé Holt Porfily until May 3, she started searching for the perfect pieces for her big day a few weeks beforetheir engagementin February 2024.
Ten months later in December 2024, Pittposted a videoon TikTok — which has amassed 3.5 million views and over 550,000 likes — revealing how she already has more than 300 wedding plates, which she bought from thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace. “Cannot wait to see the outcome 🫶🏼,” she wrote in the caption.
In the clips, the soon-to-be bride shows her hundreds of stacked plates. Each antique plate she chose to display close up has a different floral arrangement design on it. In a comment, she noted that it only cost her “between $1-$3 a plate!!”
“Absolutely gasped. they are all SO gorgeous,” the top comment with more than 40,000 likes reads.

However, some commenters were worried about the safety of consuming food on the plates, due to its potential lead content.
“Absolutely GORG but how do you not worry about lead 😫 just a genuine question!” one person commented. In response, Pitt replied, “I’ve lead tested most of them!! But I’m also very cautious and make sure there’s no scratches or chips on them either since that can make lead leach into your food!”
Ina follow-up video, she again eased her followers' concerns about the plates potentially posing a safety risk.
“My guests and my family, my friends are going to be eating off of them so I have tested all of the plates to make sure there’s no lead in them,” Pitt said. “We don’t want to make anybody sick at our wedding.”
The TikToker also addressed what would happen to the thrifted items after the wedding.
“I’m going to try to rent everything out just because we have some really cool stuff that we’re going to use for our wedding that I think a lot of other people would enjoy too,” she said. “If that works, then great. If not, probably give it back to the thrift store or try to sell them.”

Toward the end of her follow-up video, she shared more glimpses of her wedding preparations. In addition to her 300 plates, Pitt hasthrifted more than 200 gobletsas well as many dessert plates, candlestick holders, baskets, lace tablecloths, lace doilies, antique furniture and gold picture frames. All ofher vintage wedding decorationsare currently being stored in her garage.
“Basically everything for this wedding I have thrifted, and it has been amazing,” she said.
