A guest is conflicted about how to support their friend’s upcomingwedding daywithout breaking the bank.
“My friends are having a destination wedding," a Reddit user explainedin a post, adding that the wedding party is “expected to stay a full week ahead of the wedding and pay for our stay, food, transportation, and share beds with random people.”
But the complaints didn’t end there.
According to the poster who labeled the post “tacky,” the bride and groom are “also charging everyone to attend the welcome party.”

The Reddit user reiterated that guests are already expected to cover their own travel expenses, hotel accommodations and clothing for the couple’s celebration.
“I can’t believe how tacky and cheap they’re being, especially when it’s a destination wedding. If you don’t have money to pay for all of that, maybe just have a small low-key wedding instead,” they concluded.
Many in the comment section weighed in, with some offering the poster ways out of the pricey party.
“You are NOT obligated to do this. Don’t go broke to make someone else’s temporary dream come true,” wrote one user.
“’I’m sorry, but I can’t afford to be in your wedding party. I can barely afford to attend the wedding as a guest,’” another wrote as a suggestion for the poster to tell the bride and groom.
“Share beds?! I get share a room but I am not sharing a bed with anyone other than some really close friends,” a commenter said, to which another replied, “I’m not even sharing rooms.”

Another person had a theory that the husband and wife-to-be may have had ulterior motives when planning their wedding.
“No. Just no. This is their dream and your nightmare, and it’s probably free for them if they can get enough people to sign up for the whole package of a week stay at the destination. NO. Back out now so she can replace you or modify her expectations,” a person wrote.
