Brett Youngis one proud papa-to-be.
“Everybody talks about it like it’s a joke, but I gained like 13 lbs. in the first two months,” Young, 38, said. “This whole sympathy weight is a real thing!”
“It’s been hectic but it’s like all of the things you would put on a dream board. Like if you put everything you want to do in your life on a board and check them off, we’re checking them off so fast. We didn’t know that getting to do that meant busy as crap but we’re very happy,” Young told PEOPLE.

Taylor added: “It feels surreal. We’re starting to feel her move and we live for that. Each day we’re like, ‘Oh my god, she’s moving again.’ We’re so excited for the whole experience. It’s going to be a life changer but I think we’re ready for it.”

Youngwas nominated forCMT performance of the year alongsideBoyz II Menfor “Motownphilly (From CMT Crossroads)” — and he reunited with the R&B legends toperformthe collaboration at the show.
Young and Taylor, 31, shared theirpregnancy news exclusively with PEOPLEin April, when the country star explained that the pair — whotied the knot in November— “have always shared the same heart for wanting a family.”
“I love knowing that we get to give this little one an amazing life, and I just can’t wait for the future ahead of us as a family. We are so blessed!” he said.
Young swung a bat and made contact on the first try, causing the ball to explode into a cloud of pink smoke before the couple shared a sweet embrace.

The future father was all smiles on April 7 as he and his pregnant wife posed for photos ahead of the2019 ACM Awardsin Las Vegas, wearing a creatively checkered suit. Taylor, meanwhile, rocked a three-quarters-sleeve purple minidress, completing the look in silver heels and a matching clutch.
Of deciding to start a family so soon after their nuptials, Taylor explained, “We’veknown each other for quite a whileand at our age, I think we were just ready to start a family. We’re like, ‘We’ve lived a pretty good, fun, selfish life!’ So I think we’reready to take the next step.”
The 2019 CMT Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 5, at 8 p.m. ET.
