Six years after a North Carolina mother of two was found fatally stabbed in her home, her boyfriend, who had called 911 to report her death, has been arrested for her murder, according to multiple news reports.
Roger Lee Martin, 41, was taken into custody Monday in the 2013 death of 31-year-old aspiring nurse Nova “Nikki” Robinson, 31, who was found dead at her home on Cherokee Street in Asheboro. Martin is currently being held without bail at the Randolph County Jail with a court date scheduled for April 17, according to theCourier-Tribune.
It is unclear if charges have been filed against him.
Advanced DNA testing played a role in his arrest.

Police were sent to Robinson’s home around 6 p.m. on Jan. 28 after Martin told a 911 operator that Robinson was dead. According to FOX8, Martin also told the dispatcher that he had no idea who would want to harm his girlfriend.
Robinson’s body was discovered near the back door of her home, the Courier-Tribune reports. Police found blood on the door and the walls, according to the paper.
According to the Courier-Tribune, she had numerous defensive wounds and attempted to fend off her assailant. She died at the scene.
“I wish I could have been there to save her that day,” Robinson’s mother Angela Jackson toldwxii12. “I wish she’d never met him. He destroyed me.”
Robinson’s older sister, Lucrissa Lundy, said she felt “relief that my sister is going to get some kind of justice,” as she told the Courier-Tribune. “My sister was just finally getting her life where she wanted.”

Jackson also said she was pleased about Martin’s arrest.
“I’m happy about it. It needs to happen. He’s walked free for the last six years. It’s time for him and his mama to feel what I’m feeling because in a way, she’s losing a child,” she said, according to wxii12. “I don’t believe in closure because arresting, convicting, if it happens it won’t bring her back, but it will give me maybe the start of a healing process.”
“She was a good girl,” Jackson said. “She didn’t deserve it and I hope he fries. I have faith in God. I knew he would avenge it somehow. I just knew it wasn’t going to go unpunished.”
