David Gutierrez, a 15-year-old, was attacked by a group of juveniles in Santa Clara while he was on a date with his girlfriend to celebrate Valentine’s Day

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death at an upscale San Jose, California, shopping mall while out on a date for Valentine’s Day.

“David fought for his life but didn’t make it to surgery,” the GoFundMe continued.

In anews release, the San Jose Police Department said their units responded around 7:14 pm on Feb. 14 to the 300 Block of Santana Row after receiving reports of a fight and someone being stabbed. Upon arrival, they found the teen victim “suffering from at least one stab wound.”

Though they immediately began life-saving measures, David succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital following the tragic act of violence.

The suspects fled the scene and have yet to be identified or charged, per the release.

“Our precious young boy is an amazing young man whose life was taken too soon at the young age of 15,” his family said in a statement, perABC7News. “He was enrolled in college-bound classes to help him prepare for college. He was active in the community church activities.”

David was reported to be passionate about boxing with his friends, and was a member of a boxing gym in Redwood City. His family told ABC7 he was “he was kind, empathetic, with a gentle demeanor” that lit up a room.

The family is now left heartbroken and wondering why anyone would want to harm David, telling ABC7: “We are at a complete loss and trying to process this incomprehensible act of violence.”
