These parents had an extra-sweet New Year asthey rang in 2024with new babies!

As people aroundthe world counted down to midnight, two hospitals in Boston — Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center — welcomed the first three babies of 2024: all girls, and all born exactly at midnight on Jan. 1, 2024.

Margarita and Roberto of Dorchester welcomed 6-lb., 5-oz. Selena at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which marks the third year in a row that one of the first babies of the new year was born there.

Meanwhile, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center was the birthplace of two healthy little girls.

Eileen and Andrew DeRoma of Canton welcomed 7-lb., 15-oz. Emily, who joins older sisters Haylee, 4, and Kelsey, 3.

Last but not least, Min Li and Huaien Wang of Quincy became parents to Ophelia, who weighed 6 lbs., 8 oz.

According to a release, the local Boston hospitals take New Year’s babies very seriously.

Meanwhile, several other cities in the United States welcomed New Year’s babies, includinga set of twins born in North Carolina.
