A pair of bodies found inside a car in San Antonio, Texas are believed to be those of a missing pregnant teenager and her boyfriend, police said Tuesday.
Speaking to the mediaon Tuesday night, San Antonio Chief of Police William McManus described the discovery as a “very perplexing crime scene.”“There are two people in the car… They are deceased,” McManus added, before confirming that the authorities believe the bodies belong to Savanah Nicole Soto, 18, and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra, reportedCBS News.
Soto was reportedmissing on Fridayafter she failed to show up for a scheduled appointment to induce her labor. She was last seen leaving her home in Leon Valley around 2 p.m. Friday, reportedKENS5andNBC News.

“Detectives right now are looking at this as a possible murder but we don’t know for sure,” McManus told reporters, per NBC News. “Because of the complex crime scene, we can’t say for sure what we have.”
He added that while medical examiners have not yet officially identified the bodies, the authorities “believe that the two individuals are the female who was missing and her boyfriend.”

Speaking toKENS5ahead of the discovery, Soto’s mother Rachel Soto said her daughter “was thrilled and excited about being a mom.”

“She had everything ready for her little boy,” she added about her daughter who had passed her delivery date before she went missing.
“I pray to God every day, every minute, every second of the day we pray to God to bring her home, to bring her home safely because we need her home, to complete our family again,” Soto’s grandmother Rachel Soto told KENS5.
