Blueyis getting the big-screen treatment!

A feature film, based on the wildly popular Australian animated preschool series, was officially announced onGood Morning AmericaTuesday, Dec, 17. It will be a Ludo Studio production from BBC Studios and the Walt Disney Company.

“Delivering the same charm and humor that made the television series a global phenomenon, the movie will continue the adventures of Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo,” reads a Tuesday press release.

Joe Brumm, who created the series, said in the release, “I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on’The Sign’in [season] 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that. I’ve always thoughtBlueydeserved a theatrical movie.”

Brumm went on to say he wants the upcoming film to be an “experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”

“I’m excited to continue to partner with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman and Disney to bring this newBlueystory to the big screen,” he added.

While no specific plot information has been revealed, the movie’s voice cast will includeMelanie ZanettiandDavid McCormackas Bluey’s mom Chilli and dad Bandit, respectively.Blueycomposer Joff Bush will create new music for the film.

Blueyis 2024’s No. 1 series on streaming, per the release, and has won numerous accolades including anEmmyand aBAFTA Award.

The show has charmed children and parents alike. The episodes are aimed not only at little ones but contain heartstring-tugging life lessons for grown-ups, too.
