Blake Lively’s alleged demands about herIt Ends With Uswardrobe “ballooned” the film’s budget, according toJustin Baldoni’s lawsuit.
Among the claims made in Baldoni’s amended complaint, filed Jan. 31, is one about Lively allegedly asserting full creative control over her character’s costumes.
“They had to re-shop everything for Blake after creative changes, but it’s a lot of money,” the line producer alleged in the email.
Baldoni’s complaint says Lively became “intrusive” in many departments of the project, including the wardrobe, “ignoring” director Baldoni’s “vision.” The filing adds, “What may seem like an innocuous request can in fact have monumental impact on a film production.”
A source close to Lively tells PEOPLE Feb. 5, “Being upset about the wardrobe in a movie is not a legal claim but sexual harassment absolutely is. Unlike Baldoni’s efforts to confuse and distract with an irrelevant sideshow, Blake has filed serious, credible allegations that she was sexually harassed, spoke out and took steps to stop the harassment and then was retaliated against.”

The wardrobe claims arepart of Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist andThe New York Times, alleging defamation and extortion. Lively’s lawyers have called his legal action “desperate” and “meritless.” In December, Lively sued Baldoni, his Wayfarer Studios and others, accusing them of sexual harassment and launching a retaliatory smear campaign, which he denies.
In anAugust 2024 interview alongside costar Jenny Slate, Lively told PEOPLE many pieces of her own clothing ended up in the film. “There’s a lot of my stuff,” she said at the time. “The boots were mine [in the birthday party scene]. There are these great Louboutins that are also a close-up on them when we’re dancing in the bar. Those are mine. … I have a few of my husband’s shirts and socks randomly in the movie.”
Slate — who has sincecome out in support of Lively after the star took legal action against Baldoni— added in that interview, “She has such a fine aesthetic attunement, and you can see it everywhere. You can see it not just in the way that so many of her costumes have these handmade touches and that she brought them from home. She throws herself into everything.”

Thefilm’s costume designer Eric Daman, who also worked with Lively onGossip Girl, told PEOPLE in August that “because there wasn’t intense description in the book about how Lily dressed, it kind of opened up the field for us to play. We both came to the table with ideas of how that would be, and they were very similar.”
Lively and Baldoni’s lawyers had their first court appearance on Feb. 3. If the cases progress, the trial is currently scheduled for March 2026.
