Danai Gurirais makingLupita Nyong’ofeel special on her birthday.
Gurira, 41, posted a sweet shot of the two on her Instagram to celebrate Nyong’o’s 36th birthday on Friday. The actresses have gotten close in recent years after starring together in the box office juggernautBlack Panther.
“Happy Birthday to my Partner In Crime, the stupendous @LupitaNyongo! You are a woman of integrity, beauty and heart. It is a joy and an honor to call you my sister,” Gurirawrote next to the picture.
The costars recently sat down forPEOPLE’s Oscar Portfolioin the latest issue where they also took the time to answer a few questions from editor-in-chief Jess Cagle.Black Pantherbecame the first ever superhero movie to pick up a Best Picture nomination at this year’s show.
“When Oscar speeches go long, they should play the winner off with this song,” Cagle asked as part of The Cagle Exercise in the video above.

Gurira immediately started singing Ethel Merman’s iconic song “There’s No Business Like Show Business.” But Nyong’o had a different idea.
“No! No!” Gurira said horrified as Nyong’o laughed. “There you have it people, quite a spectrum of choices there. Wow. That’s one way to remember your special night.”
