Billy Joelisn’t “Movin' Out” of New York entirely.

The “Uptown Girl” singer, 74, revealed on stage during his New Year’s Eve performance at the UBS Arena in New York that despite putting his long-time Long Island home up for sale, he isn’t planning to relocate full time.

“Just because I’m selling that house, doesn’t mean I’m leaving Long Island,” Joel told the audience,according toUSA Today.He joked that “nobody” would probably purchase the property for its sky-high listing price anyway and assured the audience that he would be back in his home state soon after a brief break.

Joellisted the 20,000 sq. ft. waterfront mansion— which he has called home for over 20 years — for $49 million in May 2023.

“I’m just gonna spend a little more time in Florida like old Jewish guys from Long Island do,” he said, adding that he also has another home on Long Island that he plans to keep.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer wed his fourth wife,Alexis Roderick, at the Oyster Bay, New York estate in 2015, but the pair has been spending more time at their Florida home since, theWall Street Journalreported. He purchased that home in 2015 for $22 million, per the outlet.

During the concert, the singer-songwriter also noted that 2023 “was kind of a weird year for me. Nice in some ways, [expletive] in other ways. I’m looking forward to next year anyways,” Joel said, perUSA Today.

He announced in June that he wasending his famed monthly Madison Square Garden residencyin New York City after a decade. “After 10 years, we’ve done it,” Joel told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview last month.

“I mean, I didn’t realize it would last 10 years,” he continued. “And I don’t know how many shows it is, I’m sure somebody’s keeping track of it somewhere, but I’m amazed that we went this far, and I’m honored.”

Joel’s record-breaking residency began in January 2014, and it will come to an end in 2024 after his150th lifetime showat the storied venue on July 25.
