Billionaire Ken Griffin has set a new record for themost expensive home ever sold in America, purchasing a luxurious — and still under construction — New York City penthouse for $238 million, according to theWall Street Journal.
A spokeswoman for Griffin, the founder of hedge fund Citadel, confirmed the purchase to the outlet, saying that Citadel is expanding its presence in New York, and Griffin needed a place to stay while in town for business.
According toWSJthe 24,000 square foot apartment, located on Central Park, is housed inside a massive new building, which is nearing completion. The property will consist of an 18-story “Chalet,” which faces the street, as well as a a 79-story tower. Inside will be numerous luxury amenities including private dining rooms, a juice bar, a golf simulator and a basketball court.

Vornado Realty Trust, which developed the property, did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Stinghas reportedly also purchased an apartment in the building, according to the outlet.
Griffin, 50, holds the No. 138 spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which features the 500 most wealthy individuals in the world. He has an estimated net worth of$9.63 billion.

In 2015, Griffin also set the record for themost expensive condo purchased in Miami, purchasing a property in Miami Beach for $60 million.
The hedge fund founder also spent around $260 million to buy land for a mansion in Palm Beach, according to the outlet.

In 2014, Rosenstein dropped $137 million for a home in the Hamptons.
