Shortly after thenominationsfor the 96th annual Academy Awards were announced on Tuesday, the pop star, 22, and her collaborator/brotherFinneasO’Connell opened up about how thrilled they are to have received a Best Original Song nomination for theirBarbiecontribution “What Was I Made For?.”

The Grammy winner shared an adorable photo of herself hugging the film’s star/producerMargot Robbieon Instagram, as well as a shot of the scene in which the tender ballad plays in the movie. On the latter, the sibling duo released a joint statement.

“We are so incredibly honored to receive a nomination for ‘What Was I Made For?'” the hitmakers’ statement began. “As lifelong fans of film, music in film and the Academy Awards, this means everything to us. We are so grateful to the Academy, its members, and to be recognized alongside so many songwriters that we respect and admire.”

The singer-songwriters then expressed their gratitude to the team behind the blockbuster film, including Robbie, 33,BarbiedirectorGreta Gerwigand her screenwriting partner and husbandNoah Baumbach.

“Our deepest gratitude and thanks go out to the incomparable Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach for their genius vision and execution, the entire Barbie cast and crew, Lucky Chap Entertainment and the Warner Bros. Pictures team,” they wrote.

The “Bad Guy” singer and O’Connell also thanked the co-producers on “What Was I Made For?,”Mark Ronsonand Andrew Wyatt, who helmed theBarbiesoundtrackand received a Best Original Song nomination for“I’m Just Ken”themselves. They continued, “Thank you to Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt for weaving our song into the fabric and heart of this film so well.”

TheHappier Than Everartist and her brother’s nomination comes two years after they won their first-ever Oscar in 2022 for writing"No Time to Die”for theJames Bondfilm of the same name.

Her somber ballad about self-discovery fromBarbiehas received immense love throughout this awards season — recently taking home theGolden Globeforbest original song.

The Latin music star, 26, posted a handful of photos from the moment she found out about the nomination on herInstagramStory, as well as a thoughtful, teary-eyed video of herself thanking the songwriter behind “The Fire Inside,” Warren, 67, and its filmmaker. “This film, this team, this song represents something so close to my heart — it is my heart,” she said in the clip. “This is literally one of my dreams coming true in front of the world.”

In the caption, she explained further how overwhelmed with emotion she was and spoke to how honored she was to be a part of Flamin’ Hot to begin with. “When icons like Diane and Eva invite you to be a part of anything, YOU SAY YES OK???? Thank you for trusting me to bring part of this vision to life,” she wrote.

There are no words to describe what this means para nuestra comunidad 🤎,” the “Can’t Get Enough” artist added.
